What I loved the most about The Informant was not knowing what to believe out of tidal wave of bullshit constantly spewing from the films protagonist. Most of the time we are just as dumb founded at Whitacre's lies as the people he's constantly lying to. Ultimately a great deal of the comedy for me came at those moments when you think he's finally getting real only to find out...oop gotcha he's lying again. There is an ambiguity to Whitacre's actions that is equal parts amusing and frustrating. We never really know why it is he's lies constantly as the lies never stop. You want to feel bad for him as this all could be some mental condition..but then again that could be bullshit too.
