This is a tough film for me to watch. The torturous actions depicted in the infamous photos taken by the "soldiers" are extremely graphic. It's hard to imagine this sort of thing being done to anyone for any reason. What is marvelous about this film is that unlike so many films of this type it manages to stay as objective as possible. The film goes a long way in humanizing not only the soldiers but those with whom they were tasked with torturing. Did the soldiers over sept their bounds though? According to them they were following orders..but is that an excuse? The film lets you decide and for this I truly admire it.
