Even if you aren't one to pay much attention to politics or even current events one thing seemed to permeate culture (pop or otherwise) in the 00's...and that thing was terrorism. Regardless of what side of the coin you align yourself politically this subject of terrorism could not be avoided. So its no surprise to me that our entertainment would reflect such a subject. What is surprising is that a "silly" comic book movie will in my opinion probably end up being the defining pop culture statement on the subject. The Joker is terrorism incarnate and Batman is our response to that terror. What if our response to that terror is wrong? What if the methods we use to combat traditional injustice won't work against a terrorist? The film has Batman and hopefully the audience questioning these methods.
